IBL Rawlings MVP, Rookie of the Year and All-Star Teams
The Intercounty Baseball League today announced the Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and All-Star Teams for the 2007 season.
Most Valuable Player - Jeff Pietraszko, Kitchener Panthers
Pietraszko led the IBL with 55 hits, 10 home runs, 43 runs scored and was 9th in RBI's with 30 while finishing third with a .390 batting average in 34 games. Pietraszko, who also won the MVP Trophy in 1999, collected 35 points in the voting, including seven first-place votes while Joe Colameco of the Toronto Maple Leafs was runner-up with 16 points. This is the fifth time in the last 10 years that a Kitchener player has been named MVP.
Rookie of the Year - Lee Witmer, Kitchener Panthers
Witmer enjoyed a productive first season in the IBL, finishing with a 6-2, won-lost record and was third in pitching with a 2.17 ERA. He made 13 appearances for a total of 66 innings, allowing 66 hits, 35 walks and 23 strikeouts. His six wins tied him for fifth in the League and was the most by a rookie pitcher. Witmer collected 31 points in the voting, including five first-place votes while Guelph Royals' Andrew Karkoulas was second with 24 points and Kyle Gilligan of the Toronto Maple Leafs was third with nine points. Witmer is only the third Panther to win the award and the first since teammate Harpreet Padda in 2003.

The All-Star teams were selected by the field managers of each club on a five-three point system. Clubs were not allowed to vote for their own players.
